Recalls are issued for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Manufacturers or importers seek to inform the original buyer if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. However, manufacturers or importers may not have the contact details of subsequent owners. Please note that the recalls below are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.

2023 Ford JK Puma: incorrect Restraint Control Module configuration

In September 2023, recall campaign 23S52 was issued for 2023 Ford JK Puma vehicles. During the manufacturing process, the Restraint Control Module (RCM) was loaded with an incorrect configuration. As a result, if an incorrect replacement part was installed in the system, warnings would not be displayed and the seatbelt pretensioners and airbags may not perform as intended in the event of a collision. This condition had the potential to increase the risk and severity of injury to vehicle occupants. For this recall, a Ford dealer was to update the RCM configuration. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-005775.

2021-23 Ford JK Puma: fuel line sleeve may chafe and cause a fuel leak

In June 2025, recall campaign 25S10 was issued for 2021-2023 Ford JK Puma vehicles. Due to a manufacturing defect, the fuel line sleeve may chafe against a support bracket and sustain damage. This could cause a fuel leak and, in turn, a loss of motive power whilst driving. In the presence of an external ignition source, a fuel leak could also result in a vehicle fire. These conditions posed a risk of injury to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders, and a risk of property damage. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-006353.

2023 Ford JK Puma: incorrect Restraint Control Module (RCM) configuration

In February 2026, recall campaign 25SF3 was issued for 2023 Ford JK Puma vehicles. During the manufacturing process, the Restraint Control Module (RCM) was loaded with an incorrect configuration. If an incorrect replacement part was installed in the system, warnings would not display and the seatbelt pretensioners and airbags may not perform as intended in the event of a collision. If incorrect replacements parts were installed and if a collision occurred, this condition increased the risk of injury to vehicle occupants. To fix, an authorised Ford dealer was to update the vehicle’s RCM configuration. Ford advised that vehicles required rectification even if works had been performed under a previous recall (campaign 23S52). For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-006547.
