Overview
Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. Please note that the recalls below (if any) are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.
Recalls: Ford VA Tourneo
2024-25 Ford VA Tourneo: passenger airbag inflator may rupture
In August 2024, recall campaign 25S51 was issued for 2024-25 Ford VA Tourneo vehicles. Due to a manufacturing defect, the passenger airbag inflator may rupture in the event of airbag deployment. If this occurred, compressed gas and metal fragments may be propelled through the airbag cushion towards vehicle occupants, or there may be damage to the airbag cushion, or there may be a complete loss of airbag functionality. Any of these outcomes had the potential to cause serious injury. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-006399.
2024-25 Ford Tourneo: child lock on dual sliding door may fail
In July 2025, recall campaign 25C03 was issued for 2024-2025 Ford Tourneo vehicles. Due to a manufacturing defect, the child lock on the dual power sliding door may not operate as intended. As a result, persons inside the vehicle could open the sliding door from the by using the interior handle, including whilst the vehicle was in motion – this posed a risk of injury to vehicle occupants.
When the ignition (and instrument cluster) was switched on, a cluster warning and malfunction chime would warn the driver if the child lock was malfunctioning. If the vehicle’s ignition was off, the driver could still attempt to activate the child lock, but the door would remain inoperable. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-006375.
2024–25 Ford Tourneo: 12-volt battery vent may leak toxic gases
In December 2025, recall campaign 25SE6 was issued for 2024–2025 Ford Tourneo vehicles. Due to a manufacturing defect, the 12-volt battery vent may not operate as intended. Under certain driving conditions (e.g. high temperatures), toxic gases may therefore leak into the cabin. If this occurred, occupants may experience a hissing sound, the smell of acid or rotten eggs, and there may be a visible gas leak and/or heat in the seats. If toxic gases leaked into the cabin, it could affect the health of vehicle occupants. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-006518.
