Recalls are issued for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Manufacturers or importers seek to inform the original buyer if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. However, manufacturers or importers may not have the contact details of subsequent owners. Please note that the recalls below are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.

2023–2024 Kia MV EV9: Integrated Electronic Brake software issue may increase braking distances

In October 2024, recall campaign 241164 was issued for 2023–2024 Kia MV EV9 vehicles. Due to a software issue, the Integrated Electronic Brake (IEB) system may not operate as intended, such that increased braking force may be required when using the Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA) key function and this could increase braking distances. Increased braking distance could increase the risk of a collision and injury to vehicle occupants, pedestrians and other road users. To fix, an authorised Kia dealer was to update the IEB software. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-006126.

2023–2024 Kia MV EV9: seats not properly secured to the vehicle

In January 2025, recall campaign 251010 was issued for 2023–2024 Kia MV EV9 vehicles. Due to a manufacturing defect, vehicles may have been assembled with missing seat mounting bolts. As a result, the seats may not be properly secured to the vehicle and could move inadvertently. If a collision or hard braking occurred, inadvertent seat movement increased the risk of injury to vehicle occupants. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-006250.
