2023-25 Toyota EA10 bZ4X: windscreen defrost function may not operate effectively
In September 2025, recall campaign 5GG46 was issued for 2023-25 Toyota EA10 bZ4X vehicles that were manufactured between 26 October 2023 and 10 June 2025 (inclusive). Due to a software programming issue, the electric compressor for the Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) system may fail. If this occurred, the HVAC system may enter a failsafe mode that suspended heater operation and affected the windscreen defrost function. This could cause poor visibility for the driver, thereby increasing the risk of injury to vehicle occupants and other road users. For this recall, a Toyota dealer was to update the HVAC ECU software and inspect/replace the electric compressor if required. For further information about this recall, please see Toyota Pressroom: Toyota bZ4X recall. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-006428.
