Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. Please note that the recalls below (if any) are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.

2023–2024 Volvo EX30: vehicle speed may not be displayed

In May 2024, recall campaign R10273 was issued for 2023–2024 Volvo EX30 vehicles. Due to a software error, the infotainment unit screen may enter a test mode during vehicle start-up. This may prevent important information such as the vehicle’s speed from being displayed, potentially increasing the risk of injury to vehicle occupants and other road users. To fix, the vehicle’s software needed to be updated. The updated software was released as an Over the Air update which owners could download to the vehicle themselves. However, if unable to update the car remotely, an authorised Volvo retailer could update the vehicle’s software. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-005968.

2024 Volvo EX30: high-voltage battery cell modules may overheat and ignite

In January 2026, recall campaign R10355 was issued for 2024 Volvo EX30 vehicles. Due to a manufacturing issue, the cell modules installed in the high-voltage battery may overheat at high charge levels. If this occurred, it could cause a vehicle fire which posed a risk of injury to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders, and a risk of damage to property. Until a remedy was made available, owners were advised to keep the battery charge level below 70% – this could be set in the “Charging” setting menu in the vehicle display. Once a remedy became available, owners would be contacted by Volvo. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-006524.
