Recalls: Volvo Mk.3 V60

Overview

Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. Please note that the recalls below (if any) are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.

Recalls: Volvo Mk.3 V60

2019-20 Volvo V60: AEB not working due to missing code

In April 2020, recall campaign R29998 was issued for 2019-20 Volvo V60 vehicles that were available for sale in Australia from 22 March 2019 to 17 March 2020. Software code in the Active Safety Domain Master (ASDM) system was missing and this could result in the Automatic Emergency Brake (AEB) system not triggering the automatic brakes. If the driver failed to react to the AEB collision warning and the AEB system failed to activate the brakes, there was an increased risk of injury for vehicle occupants and other road users. To fix, the vehicle’s software was to be upgraded. The usual brake, collision warning and brake support systems for pedestrians and bicycles, however, were not affected. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2020/18264.

2019-20 Volvo Mk.3 V60: low pressure fuel pump failure and loss of power

In August 2021, recall campaign R10100 was issued for 2019-20 Volvo Mk.3 V60 vehicles. In these vehicles, the fuse for the low pressure fuel pump could blow – this could prevent the low pressure fuel pump from operating such that the engine may stall while driving and not restart. By stalling, the loss of power increased the risk of a collision, also increasing the risk of injury to vehicle occupants and other road users. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-001666.

2020 Volvo Mk.3 V60: brake pedal rod could detach and cause loss of braking

In November 2024, recall campaign R10289 was issued for 2020 Volvo Mk.3 V60 vehicles. Due to a manufacturing defect, the brake pedal rod may not have been fasted to the specified torque and could detach. If this occurred, there would be a loss of braking performance and/or vehicle control, thereby increasing the risk of injury to vehicle occupants and other road users. Owners were advised that the vehicle could still be stopped using the parking brake. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-006168.

2019–21 Volvo V60 T8 Plug in Hybrid: high-voltage battery may overheat and cause fire

In April 2025, recall campaign R10312 was issued for 2019–2021 Volvo V60 T8 Plug in Hybrid vehicles. Due to a manufacturing defect, cell modules in the high voltage battery may be defective. When the vehicle was parked with a fully charged battery, this condition could cause a thermal overload and vehicle fire. A vehicle fire posed a risk of injury to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders, and property damage. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-006319.
