2023-25 Subaru Solterra: windscreen defrost function may not operate effectively

In September 2025, recall campaign SRT-372 was issued for 2023-25 Subaru Solterra vehicles. Due to a software programming issue, the electric compressor for the Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) system may fail. If this occurred, the HVAC system may enter a failsafe mode that suspended heater operation and affected the windscreen defrost function. This could cause poor visibility for the driver, thereby increasing the risk of injury to vehicle occupants and other road users. For this recall, a Subaru dealer was to update the HVAC ECU software and inspect/replace the electric compressor if required. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-006432.
