Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. 2023 Ford Transit Custom: ADAS software may not operate as intended

In January 2024, recall campaign 23C39 was issued for 2023 Ford AV Transit Custom vehicles. Due to an incomplete software update, the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) may not operate as intended. As a result, sensors and the rear-view camera’s yellow warning light may not illuminate in the instrument cluster to alert the driver of nearby obstacles or driver errors. A loss of safety systems could increase the risk of a collision and injury to vehicle occupants and other road users. To fix, an authorised Ford dealer was to update the ADAS software free of charge. 2023-24 Ford AV Transit Custom: Lane Change Warning Assist may not work

In May 2024, recall campaign 24C10 was issued for 2023-24 Ford AV Transit Custom vehicles. Due to a software issue within the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM), the Lane Change Warning Assist (LCWA) feature may not operate as intended. A loss of the LCWA feature could increase the risk of a collision and injury to vehicle occupants and other road users. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-005970.

2023-24 Ford AV Transit Custom: power windows may not auto-reverse

In October 2024, recall campaign 24C24 was issued for 2023-24 Ford AV Transit Custom vehicles. Due to a software issue, if a vehicle occupant placed an obstruction such as a body part in the window space when the driver or passenger side windows were closing, the auto-reverse function may not have operate until significant pressure was applied. If the driver or passenger side window auto reverse function did not operate as intended, it increased the risk of serious injury to vehicle occupants. 2023-25 Ford AV Transit Custom: passenger airbag inflator may rupture

In August 2024, recall campaign 25S51 was issued for 2023-25 Ford AV Transit Custom vehicles. Due to a manufacturing defect, the passenger airbag inflator may rupture in the event of airbag deployment. If this occurred, compressed gas and metal fragments may be propelled through the airbag cushion towards vehicle occupants, or there may be damage to the airbag cushion, or there may be a complete loss of airbag functionality. 2024-25 Ford AV Transit Custom: child lock on dual sliding door may fail

In July 2025, recall campaign 25C03 was issued for 2024-2025 Ford AV Transit Custom vehicles. Due to a manufacturing defect, the child lock on the dual power sliding door may not operate as intended. As a result, persons inside the vehicle could open the sliding door from the by using the interior handle, including whilst the vehicle was in motion – this posed a risk of injury to vehicle occupants. When the ignition (and instrument cluster) was switched on, a cluster warning and malfunction chime would warn the driver if the child lock was malfunctioning. If the vehicle’s ignition was off, the driver could still attempt to activate the child lock, but the door would remain inoperable. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-006375.

2023–25 Ford AV Transit Custom: 12-volt battery vent may leak toxic gases

In December 2025, recall campaign 25SE6 was issued for 2023–25 Ford AV Transit Custom vehicles. Due to a manufacturing defect, the 12-volt battery vent may not operate as intended. Under certain driving conditions (e.g. high temperatures), toxic gases may therefore leak into the cabin. If this occurred, occupants may experience a hissing sound, the smell of acid or rotten eggs, and there may be a visible gas leak and/or heat in the seats. 2024-25 Ford AV Transit Custom: incorrect information in owner’s manual

In March 2026, recall campaign 26C09 was issued for 2024-25 Ford AV Transit Custom vehicles. The vehicle’s owner’s manual contained incorrect information regarding the location of the child seat top tether anchor point. As a result, users may not be able to locate the appropriate anchor point for attaching the child seat top tether strap. While there was no direct safety hazard and vehicle performance was unaffected, the vehicles did not comply with Australian Design Rule (ADR) 34/02 – Child Restraint Anchorages and Child Restraint Anchor Fittings. 2024-25 Ford AV Transit Custom: non-compliant digital owner’s manual

In April 2026, recall campaign 26C20 was issued for 2024-25 Ford AV Transit Custom vehicles. The vehicle’s digital owner’s manual may contain incorrect information regarding the location of the child seat anchor points, airbags, seatbelts, and emergency assistance information. As a result, the user may not be able to locate the appropriate anchor point to attach the child seat, seatbelts and other information. While there was no safety hazard associated with this defect and vehicle performance was not affected, the vehicles were non-compliant with Australian Design Rule (ADR) 34/02 – Child Restraint Anchorages and Child Restraint Anchor Fittings, as well as ADR 04/00 – Seatbelts.
