Recalls are issued for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Manufacturers or importers seek to inform the original buyer if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. However, manufacturers or importers may not have the contact details of subsequent owners. Please note that the recalls below are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.

2020-24 Mercedes-Benz H243 EQA: potential loss of power steering

In April 2024, recall campaign RC5008 was issued for 2020-24 Mercedes-Benz H243 EQA vehicles. In these vehicles, the back-up software for the electrical power steering control unit may not operate as intended. In the event of a failure of the power steering control unit, this condition could result in a loss of power steering control, thereby increasing the risk of a collision and injury to vehicle occupants and other road users. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-005949.

2023-24 Mercedes-Benz H243 EQA: high voltage battery could short circuit and cause fire

In November 2025, recall campaign RC5181 was issued for 2023-24 Mercedes-Benz X243 EQB vehicles. Due to a software issue, the high voltage battery may short circuit if charged over 80 per cent capacity. If this occurred, the battery could overheat and cause a vehicle fire. As such, this condition could cause injury to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders, and/or damage to property. To fix, the vehicle’s software was to be updated. Until the software update was performed, owners were advised not to charge their vehicle’s high voltage battery beyond 80 per cent – this could be set in the vehicle’s MBUX system or in the Mercedes-Benz app that was linked to the vehicle. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-006475.
