RAM DT 1500: grey front angleOverview

Recalls are issued for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Manufacturers or importers seek to inform the original buyer if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. However, manufacturers or importers may not have the contact details of subsequent owners. Please note that the recalls below are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.

2022 RAM DT 1500: front wheel speed sensor wiring may be incorrectly routed

In November 2022, recall campaign RC20009ZA1 was issued for 2022 RAM DT 1500 trucks. Due to a manufacturing defect, the right-hand front wheel speed sensor wiring may have been routed incorrectly during assembly. As a result, the brake fluid hose or the wheel speed sensor wiring could be damaged. This could cause brake fluid to leak and a reduction in braking performance, thereby increasing the risk of a collision and injury to vehicle occupants and other road users. To fix, an authorised RAM dealer was to inspect the right front wheel speed sensor wiring routing and, if necessary, reposition it. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-005563.

2019–2022 RAM DT 1500: tailgate strikers may be misaligned

In January 2023, recall campaign RC20011ZB8 was issued for 2019–2022 RAM DT 1500 trucks. Due to a manufacturing defect, one or both tailgate strikers may have been misaligned during assembly. This could cause the tailgate to open while the vehicle was in motion or stationary. If the tailgate opened while the vehicle was in motion, unsecured cargo may fall onto the road and into traffic – this increased the risk of a collision and injury to vehicle occupants and other road users. To fix, an authorised RAM dealer was to inspect and rectify the tailgate strikers. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-005602.

2023-24 RAM DT 1500: turn signal or high beams may not operate as intended

In March 2024, recall campaign RC20018B2A was issued for 2023-24 RAM DT 1500 trucks. Due to a software issue in the steering column control module, vehicles may have been built with a steering column control module (SCCM) turn signal lever which may not cancel automatically when the steering wheel was rotated or switched off manually. This could result in a non-cancelling indicator and/or the high beam headlights to activate unexpectedly. If the turn signal indicators did not function as intended, other road users would be unable to identify the driver’s intentions, increasing the risk of a collision and injury to vehicle occupants and other road users. To fix, an authorised RAM dealer was to update the software. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-005912.

2023–2024 RAM DT 1500: steering column control module may not send airbag signal

In August 2024, recall campaign RC2002314B was issued for 2023–2024 RAM DT 1500 trucks. Due to a manufacturing defect, the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) may not have been welded to the required specifications. As a result, the SCCM may not send an airbag deployment signal to the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC), which could prevent the driver’s airbag from deploying as intended, increasing the risk of injury to the driver. To fix, an authorised RAM dealer was to inspect and replace the SCCM free of charge. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-006065.

2023-24 RAM DT 1500: driver’s airbag may not deploy

In September 2024, recall campaign RC2002233B was issued for 2023-2024 RAM DT 1500 trucks. Due to a manufacturing defect, the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) may not have been welded to the required specifications. As a result, the SCCM may fail to send an airbag deployment signal to the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) and this could prevent the driver’s airbag from deploying if a collision occurred. This condition increased the risk of injury to vehicle occupants. To fix, an authorised RAM dealer was to inspect and replace the SCCM. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-006070.

2019-23 RAM DT 1500: driver’s airbag may not deploy

This condition could result in a loss of vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a collision and injury to vehicle occupants and other road users. To fix, an authorised RAM Trucks dealer was to update the ABS control module software. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-006127.

2023–2024 RAM DT 1500: steering column software may cause indicators not to cancel

In November 2024, recall campaign RC20027A1B was issued for 2023–2024 RAM DT 1500 trucks. Due to a software issue in the steering column control module (SCCM), the turn signal lever may not cancel when the steering wheel was rotated or switched off manually. This could lead to a non-cancelling indicator and/or unintended activation of the high beams. If the turn signal indicators did not operate as intended, other road users may be unable to identify if the vehicle is turning – this could increase the risk of a collision and injury to vehicle occupants and other road users. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-006167.
